For all that relates to both Armstrong MT 500 and Harley Davidson MT 350

Rack bits missing?

Post by StewartR » Sat May 19, 2018 9:16 pm

Hi!

I collected my MT today. Seized brakes at the back and no sign of having run for a while but not bad aside from that...I hope ;)

I came with panniers frames but only the baskety bits. Is that all there is? They seem to have bolts holes with no corresponding mounting point on the bike so am I missing bits?

Cheers,

Stewart

You can take the calipers apart easily enough The hard part is removing the bolts joining the two halves Left on the bike you should be able to unscrew them , then strip and clean A refurb kit is worthwhile Just make sure you re- assemble correctly The rear master cylinder catches crud and may also need attention

Go to the Technical section of the forum and download the manuals so that you find out exactly what should be there From what you have described I think you may be missing donuts

Should you find yourself needing parts, it's always worth posting in the Wanted section

Oops - forgot to mention. It's a 500.

Sorry my comments above largely relate to the 350 but 500 manuals are available for download

On the 500 you need the rear rack (behind the seat) as well as the side panniers as this mounts to the bikes frame and the side panniers mount to the rear rack

Cheers. Had a better look and it turns out I do have all the bits apart from the longer bolts. Happy days as I have plans to haul tour on the old girl.

I have seen Allthread (threaded bar) and 2 nuts used to replace the longer bolts if thats an easier fix for you
