I miss my old V8 110

Post by GordonEndersby » Thu Feb 04, 2010 11:38 am

I made the mistake of buying a copy of Landrover owner the other day.
All I could do was drool over defender 110's.
and Im stuck with a boring, uninspiring auto Discovery.

I so miss my old V8 110.
It felt like an event every time I got in it.
But I had to use it too regulary, the petrol was too expensive and it needed a lot of bulkhead repairs.
No I dont need to drive so much I wished Id kept it and slowly sorted it out.

There was an add to swap an ex military V8 110 for a Disco.
I was so close to making the call.

Ive been meaning to do some work on the 110 for 3yrs!! I used to have to service it every 12 weeks due to the milage I was doing. But since getting into bikes, having to do work on the house etc its taken a backseat only getting essential work. I only clocked up 4000miles in the last year on the 110!!

Most of the stuff is cosmetic, I do need to get hold of a decent set of 2nd row passenger doors before mine fall off. Ive got replacment rear tub cappings to go on (that means roof off).

Ive got a few litres of MOD green and black paint, might throw some of that on it

Be nice if I had a V8 in my S2, but Defenders are too modern and plastic for me. That and you have to pay tax on 'em.

I can feel tears welling up in the corner of my eye........

I too miss my old V8 110. Ex RAF Lyneham it was the best Land Rover I`ve ever had until November 2008 when some lowlife nicked it from outside the house. NFU took 6 months to settle the claim but the payout was good.

Had a look for a replacement but couldn`t find anything as good/straight. She was a peach, I even forgave her the incredible thirst for unleaded. As low as 12mpg on a bad day but up to 20mpg steady cruising.

The best 11 seat V8 convertible money can buy.

Now I`m into MT`s...... :D

See thats just it.. stand that next to a civy motor of the same year in civy spec, I would be looking at the MOD truck not the civy... thats why the bloody charge more for less.... that bloody green paint.

Mine was ivory and chequer plate.
Didn't like white before but now I want another white one.

I got over the impulse to put daktari stripes on it.

They should bring back the rack for the low-lives who nick landrovers. I hear theres a gang based near Leeds who go out at night in a big horsebox, with a winch and drag landy's up the tailboard and into the box. Who would stop a horsebox travelling early in the morning? it doesnt matter what sort of immobiliser you've got, wheel locks or anything. Red hot poker up the *rse is too gentle...rant rant rant :x
