Re: Rear Shocks; replacement 'bump' rubbers.

I’m not sure if it is a magic answer but to save taking the eyes off you can cut the new bumpers neatly lengthwise (just one cut) with a sharp knife, spring them over the rod and then using a good quality waterproof glue, join where you made the cut. I can’t remember who kindly told me, it may have...

Hello George,

Thanks for the reply and offer. I need two please. What is the cost, and how do we arrange it as I've not done any transactions on the site.

Best,
Stuart

Rear Shocks; replacement 'bump' rubbers.

Hello Gents et al, On removing my rear shocks for a clean and check-over, I noticed that both rubber 'bump' stops are looking a tad sorry, and one of the eye damper bearings is seized. No lumps missing on the stop, but only a matter of time. I know one can remove the springs, but is it possible to r...

Re: What have you done to your MT today ? contd

The weekend is here so while the bike's backside is off, time to check the rear brakes and drum. If anyone still believes that routine maintenance is not really necessary, I'd change your belief system pronto. On removing the assy from the drum I noticed that both the brake linings were coming adrif...

Re: What have you done to your MT today ? contd

After an accident that put me down for two months, not bike related, I decided to take the swinging arm off the old girl and after a good clean, replace chain and both sprockets. Pretty straight forward until the manual said to remove the grease nipple...what nipple? Drifted the shaft out and discov...

Re: MT500's in use by the UK Post Office?

Thanks for the replies gents. Minter. The frame is Red as well as the plastics, so it looks to be one of the NI 'Reds' as opposed to the Post Office. Wirrelman. Firstly, I took your advice to remove the sump filter. Straight forward job, and boy was it worth it. (See photo). I'd recommend this to an...

Dropped the skid pan and sump to clean out before an oil change. I was surprised (but not a lot), to find the debris in the picture. It seems it was last done when Noah was an apprentice. The sludge was almost solid, so anyone wanting to do an oil change, this is recommended. https://i.postimg.cc/y3...

Re: MT500's in use by the UK Post Office?

Just a quick addition. The chap I bought it off says it came from storage in NI. When he doesn't know, but that might answer a question. Just the strange data plate to research...

Re: MT500's in use by the UK Post Office?

Thanks for the info. I take it you mean the Military ones in NI; would they have had CV/MV data plates? There must be some old crusty MT wallah out there who serviced these things in-country as it would cost too much to have sent them back to the mainland for servicing etc. The 'Red' plot thickens.
