Check the seals around the kick start mechanism, and on the gear selector.
It could also be a damaged clutch casing gasket, or you may even have a cracked casing in that area.

I have Bunkers oversized Honda XL tank that he had fitted to his bike.
Keeping it for when I think I might need it, but could possibly loan it out if it's required. ;)
