Just bought an MT350, a bit different from my current road bike but I've owned stranger things in the past! Having a bit of a fight with the clutch drag but assured it will improve or I'll get used to it. Gearbox is fine when warm but trying to engage neutral at a standstill is near impossible, any advice on this very welcome.

Welcome to the forum

Check out the start of the forum General section, an early post is Teeshirts- you have numbers 8 and 9

Firstly, make sure that your clutch is adjusted correctly, if you need a clutch adjusting tool drop me a PM (private message)

Secondly, try selecting neutral whilst your bike is still rolling a little

If you have no joy with these, you will probably solve your problem by stripping the clutch, cleaning plates and checking thickness against the spec in the manual , see forum Manuals section, renewing springs and plates if necessary. See Joth's excellent tutorial on refurbing the clutch. One special tool required - clutch holding tool

If you don't want to do the clutch yourself, contact Sportax, they are the MT engine specialists. There may be some MT owners near to Fordingsbridge who are able to help

Good advice from Wirralman, I would recommend at least re-adjusting the clutch.

Mine was starting to be difficult to select neutral when stationary but re-did the clutch setting and now goes into neutral without a problem. Many owners carry a spare clutch cable and timing belt as these are both very easy to change at the side of the road and probably the two items that are most likely to break when riding.

If you want to get to get to know a bit more about the bike, stripping and checking the clutch and timing belt are good tasks to start with.

Not an uncommon problem that you have, easily fixable by refacing the clutch basket and checking the clutch pack dimensions.
