Been on and off this group, actually just snapped a clutch cable on my MT500 on my way home, think I can repair the lever end but it's come out the box, is there a trick to getting the ball to sit back in its place without stripping everything?
Cheers, Chris

The trick is patience ! There is no need to pull things apart . First remove the small access cover with a large washer. I got a large paper clip and unwrapped part of it the turned back the last centimetre to provide a hook
The cable needs to go down and back to free it from the actuating arm.

Do it once and it's a piece of cake next time Good luck

Hi Chris,

Welcome to the forum.. As Eric says above, patience is a virtue! But once youve done it a few times or seen how the mechanism works you soon get the hang of it..

We sell easy fitting cables at the optimal length if you need one!

Bollocks. It's so easy to stick a new cable in.

Before any of you 'experts' start with all that 'in the field' it's not quite so easy talk, yes it is.

One minor problem you may find is pulling the cable out of the casing This can happen if grit gets underneath the rubber boot

The cable should slide out easily, if not some lubrication , care, and a large lever MAY be needed. I've had both easy and reluctant cables No-one could understand why I was having difficulty when I had grit wedging the cable in Changing the cable on another of my MTs was a doddle

Good to hear that you're sorted. If it were me I'd fit the new cable, buy a second cable tape up the ends then pre-route it then ditch the repaired cable
